XXIX Folk Festival in 2009 Patagonia TIO LALO

Friday 17 and Saturday July 18, 2009

The Organizing Committee invites through the following bases, XXIX Folk Festival in Patagonia, to be held on: Friday 17 and Saturday July 18, 2009.

These bases can be modified by the Organising Committee, receive inquiries and issuing clarifications to the May 8, 2009.

1. - OBJECTIVES:

- Encouraging the participation of authors and composers.
- Developing the cultural exchange between peoples
- Contributing to the community the necessary space to sow the seeds of song and dance in
Patagonia.
- Designing the Festival as one of the most important meetings of Latin American folklore.

2. - PARTICIPANTS:
is open to all authors and / or composers who so wish, over 18 years of age.

3. - ON THE ISSUES:
3.1 .- They must be root folk and enjoy full freedom in terms of subject matter and inspiration.

3.2 .- All songs submitted must be original and unpublished tanto en letra como en música, sin exceder 4 minutos 30 segundos de duración, lo que deberá quedar estipulado claramente en la hoja de inscripción, y no deberán haber sido presentadas en escenarios con fines competitivos ni difundidas en medios de comunicación, o en eventos diferentes del Pre-festival Folklórico de la Patagonia.
Todas las canciones una vez preseleccionadas, serán copiadas a un CD, que entregará la Comisión organizadora para ser difundidas en los medios de comunicación.

3.3.-Participaran en la competencia un total de 9 canciones, de las cuales 3 serán de la región de Magallanes, 3 de origen extranjero (argentinas u otros países) and 3 songs from the rest of the country.

SUBMISSION OF RULES:

DEADLINE:

PRE-SELECTION PROCESS:

4.5.-Monday June 15, 2009 is presented the list of songs selected and published through the media.


5 .- OF ENTRIES:

5.1 .- The authors and / or composers who wish to participate, Chilean or foreign, must deliver or mail their creations in a sealed envelope to: "Organizing Committee of the XXIX Festival Folk in Patagonia, Casilla 85-D, Punta Arenas - Chile, or the Office of the Municipality of Punta Arenas Plaza Muñoz Gamero located at No. 745 First Floor, City Punta Arenas, southern Chile.

5.2 .- In the sealed envelope shall include:

Every song that does not meet any of these requirements will be automatically removed.


5.3 .- In both envelopes shall be noted on the front, but the name of the song, the pseudonym and the region and country it represents. The envelopes in front consigned identity of the author and / or composer, will be automatically disqualified.



6.-SELECTION:

6.1.-Each composer and / or author may enter the songs you want, but only one of them may be selected.

6.2 .- a jury selected, nominated by the Festival Organizing Committee, elect a national decision is not contestable 6 songs and / or foreign companies participating in the competition, completing the total of 9, with the 3 songs as selected regional in Section 3.3 .- of these bases.

6.3.-The Organizing Committee will communicate the results of the shortlist to the composers whose songs have been selected.


7.-INTERPRETATION:

7.0 .- The accompaniment of the song will be the sole responsibility of the author and / or composer.

7.1 .- The interpretation of the issues may be performed by soloists, duets, or groups (maximum of 5 members on stage), all over 15 years of age, may also rely on instrumental tracks (background) recorded on CD. Be accepted tracks with dub voices in the chorus and accompanying but not in the melody line.
All participants must be properly identified on the card registration, defining the role played by each member. No changes will be accepted once the selection, or other persons outside the solo, duo or group. (See Section 10.1 .- of these rules).

7.2 .- The order of competition of the songs will be determined by the Festival or by lot the day of the official presentation of the Festival.

7.3 .- After the presentation of the songs in competition, the first day of the Festival Jury will select six topics Chamber finalists who will compete the second day, the closing day.

7.4 .- The authors, composers and performers, Once confirmed and notified their selection, may not remove the issue.

7.5 .- The people who appear to defend an issue in competition shall not interfere in the interpretation of others, nor will participate in the Show.


8.-THE JURY:

8.1 .- The Festival Organising Committee shall appoint the jury shortlisted and Sala.

8.2 .- The Board of the Festival Jury will rate the songs and their decisions are final and will be authenticated by a notary public or certifying officer.


9.-OF AWARD:

9.1.-The winning song will receive a prize of U.S. $ 4000 equivalent in local currency and Rhea.

9.2.-The Second Place will receive a prize of $ 500 equivalent in local currency and Rhea.

9.3.-The Third Place will receive a prize of U.S. $ 300 equivalent in local currency and Rhea.

9.4.-Best Performer Award consisting of $ 500 equivalent in local currency and Rhea, selected from among 10 performers of the competition.


10.-THE GENERAL:

-TICKETS-HOUSING FINANCE:

10.1 .- The Organizing Committee will fund flights, accommodation and food for the artists who have been selected in competition for up to two people for each song. For the artists were canceled air passages in the reaches Santiago - Punta Arenas-Santiago or Puerto Montt - Punta Arenas - Puerto Montt. DUTIES:

10.3 .- Participants in the competition may act solely in the Festival.

10.5 .- The authors and performers of the 9 subjects classified, expressly authorize the Organizing Committee of the event to record his songs without charging any fees.

10.6 .- The Festival Organising Committee performs outreach events: cultural, artistic and social, which will be invited to the artists.
