Scout Movement Timeline

Here comes the important moments in the evolution of the scout movement towards what we are today, " a movement of youth, for youth and the young "

  • 1857: Born Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden Powell on February 22 at number 6 Stanhope Street, London.
  • 1907: first experimental Scout camp on Brownsea Island.
  • 1908: Scouting for Boys was published in installments every two weeks. On April 14 the first edition of the magazine The Scout.

  • 1960: 8,876,707 Census scouts. Appears on Scouting Catholic Spain (MSC)
  • 1962: Census 9,366,692 scouts in 76 countries. It celebrates 50 years of Scouting in Spain. On July 12 Queen Elizabeth opened the house Banden Powell.
